COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Update: Back to the Office

Since the first cases of coronavirus (COVID-19) were reported in Japan, we have taken steps to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our staff, families, clients and suppliers.

Following the lifting of the latest state of emergency declaration by the Japanese Government on March 21, we implemented a safe, staggered return to office work.

The health and safety of our employees and clients remain our top priority. Here are some of the measures we are taking:

A New Normal

When the number of cases increased at the beginning of March, we immediately implemented a work-from-home (“WFH”) policy from March 2, which continued until May 31. While the state of emergency for Tokyo and other regions has been lifted, COVID-19 is still a threat to health, and we remain vigilant. While we have returned to the office, we will return to WFH if necessary.

How we Are Making it Work

Through teamwork, patience, compassion and technology, we are able to keep FunkyCorp working very much “business as usual.” We have implemented the following measures to keep staff and clients safe:

  • We wear masks on our commute and in the office
  • We wash our hands and use hand sanitizer throughout the day
  • A one-way traffic flow around narrow parts of the office
  • Cleaning — we disinfect common spaces 3 times a day
  • Ventilation — we keep windows open throughout the office
  • Meetings are held via video conferencing tools when possible

Our office hours are 10am – 7pm as usual. We will continue to update our policies and practices as the situation evolves. Please reach out to us if you have any questions.
